TRIPS DADON BIO
Haitian born, Trips DaDon arrived in Canada at 8 years old. Due to political conflict and violence in Haiti, his mother decided to move him and his sister to Montreal; where he would continue elementary school. In Montreal is where he would broaden his horizons musically and fall in love with hip-hop. Inspired by the artists at the time; Trips started writing raps on his notepad that we would take to school.
At only 13 years old, He would perform for the first time at his high school’s talent show. He loved how the crowd reacted to his performance and decided to keep writing lyrics. Throughout high school, he would freestyle for his friends and participate in more talent shows; getting better and better every year.
Attending Dawson College, Trips quickly made a name for himself as one of the top hip-hop artists in the city. He did that by winning numerous showcases and battles which were held monthly. Prepared to take himself to the next level, he would hit the studio and record for the first time. He would take his best song and shop it to various promoters across Montreal.
A great response allowed him to open up for “The Diplomats” at Aria nightclub in 2006. With a local buzz, Trips hit the radio hard and the disc jockeys would play his songs regularly at 90.3FM & 103.7FM; local Montreal urban radio stations.
In '07, Trips DaDon decided to expand and acquire new contacts in the biggest Canadian market: Toronto. He started performing any and everywhere he could: open mics, lounges, bars, and clubs. He also decided to record his first promotional cd at Jhoa Carvallo Studios in Toronto, Ontario. He got Loud Records vice president: DJ Vlad to host it and put it up for free download on his own website: http://www.tripsmusic.com.
With a great online presence, Trips secured a worldwide digital distribution deal independantly via iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody and Amazon. His first music video entitled "Girlfriend" generated over 10 000 views on Youtube in just 2 weeks. Seeing an incredible buzz and momentum on his video; Youtube & Google offered Trips partnership by placing ads on his video for revenue sharing.
In the months to come, Trips will release his 2nd music video on Much Music; the #1 television network for Music Videos in Canada. He will also release his 1st EP "Self Made" in October, which will be available at HMV, Amazon, and all the major retailers across Canada.
